Dead Sea mud, mosaics in Madaba and more in Jordan

In which our globe-trotting duo experience the surreal buoyancy of the Dead Sea – the lowest point on the planet!

Mud, glorious mud!

We had a great time at the Dead Sea. For the first time Evan was able to swim like a pro!  It was so much fun to be able to float around! I always knew that this was possible in the Dead Sea but it was always one of those “see it to believe it” kinds of things for me! The sun was shining, the air was warm and the water was a refreshing chill. We were warned to not lick our faces or get it in our eyes and of course Evan and I managed to do both. It stings and tastes horrible! Ogla told us to be sure to plaster ourselves in the mud from the Sea, and we did! A whole bunch of us covered ourselves from head to toe in it, even all through our hair. Swimming in the Dead Sea should be on everyone’s ‘Must Do While Travelling’ list!

Team Kevan's tour group in Jordan

Overall, I’ve enjoyed every minute of Jordan. The people are very friendly here and it’s very safe to travel to, despite Jordan’s neighboring countries. And the food here is fantastic! While we were in Petra we had the chance to take part in the Petra Kitchen bolt-on and learned how to make a Jordanian meal. The best part was that after making it, we got to stuff our faces and take home the recipes! We have seen a lot of ruins and many different types of gorgeous mosaics all over the country.

Thanks for reading! We are now we’re off to Syria!
