We’re all developing nervous ticks and learning to speed-read here at GROM HQ. Things are definitely feeling a little more frantic since our last post.
Our Travel Photo Fail entrants certainly went out of their way to get their votes in – if you missed out, check out last Thursday’s news report for details of the winners. In the meantime, here’s what Jazzmine Evans and Francesca White had to say about where their photos came from.
First off, we fired a few questions at Francesca, who gave us the curiously-entitled ‘Schmuckpassage.’
1. Where was the picture taken? And what exactly happens in a ‘Schmuckpassage’?
The picture was taken in Salzburg Austria. Well, I like to think 'Schmuckpassage' is a wonderfully useful tunnel where you send anyone you consider a 'schmuck' and they are transformed into pretty jewellery (there was a jewellery store inside!) Probably just wishful thinking but you could try with “Perry and her man-bag Russell”? (Katy Perry and Russell Brand we assume? Team GROM.)
2. As an entrant, you’re obviously a fan of travel. Have you travelled before? If so, what was your favourite destination?
I haven't been fortunate enough to do a World Trip, or go on an On The Go Tours-style trip as yet, but I desperately wish to do so. However, I’ve been on holidays with my family to various places in Europe and the United States whenever possible (...possibly why they are so keen to get rid of me now...). Niagara Falls was probably my favourite destination.
3. Now let’s just imagine what it’d be like to win: what stage of the competition do you think you would be most excited about?
Ohhhhh difficult question - it's all sounds so different to what I've experienced previously that I'd be ridiculously excited about all of it. If I had to choose I imagine the tours in China would be the most exciting. I've read a lot of novels depicting various parts of China and detailing its history so that part of the trip would be particularly fascinating!
Thanks Francesca, good luck!
And now we turn to our TPF winner Jazzmine Evans. We’re sure you’re all itching to hear what became of a certain young man’s eyebrows...
1. Tell us a bit about the photo: where was it taken and how did you end up trying to shave some poor chap’s eyebrows off?
It was taken in a hostel in Bangkok. That guy walked in and passed out on one of our beds. We thought he was just really drunk and lost so we painted his nails and took pictures with him - the next day we found out he had been drugged! We felt a little bad after that though.
2. What stage of the Get Rid Of Me main prize appeals to you most?
Honestly I think all of the places would be absolutely incredible. But I think Egypt is important to visit because it is decaying and might not be there for much longer.
3. You’ve obviously travelled before. What are some of your favourite places?
I loved Zanzibar and Thailand because I met some incredible people. Mostly, I think it isn’t about where you actually are but about the people you meet along the way!
Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions Jazzmine and Francesca. Good luck for the rest of the competition! (We haven’t heard back from Oksana yet, no doubt she’s tracking long-haired woodland weirdos clothed only in automotive accessories... but good luck to her too!)
As you are no doubt are aware by now, voting will close on Thursday 30th September at 12am PST. (That’s 8am GMT). So what are you planning for the last few days of voting? How are you going to squeeze those last few votes out of friends and family, inching you closer to the prize? You just think about that...
Good luck everyone.
Team GROM.
