Happy Monday! If there even is such a thing.
On Friday Emily Gerson wrote an awesome piece about Get Rid Of Me on her blog Maiden Vogage. Apart from being quite brilliant in every way, it also hit upon one of the central quandaries of the typical GROM entrant. Namely – do you tell your friends about the competition, or not?
On the one hand, you need votes to stand a chance of being picked for the six month, all-expenses-paid dream holiday of a lifetime. On the other, if you ask your friends to vote for you, some of them will enter themselves. The evidence of such treachery is all around us.
One solution, adopted by the likes of Erin and Erika is to vote for each other, and promise to take each other on holiday if you win. But this leaves you open to a dirty double cross. Another is, only to tell those friends and family who are too busy to take a holiday – but that's still risky. Your parents may hate looking after you for all you know.
We can tell you what the best policy is: tell everyone. Tell them again and again. Tell them until they really start to wish you would go away for six months.
One vote gets you into the prize draw. A second vote makes you TWICE AS LIKELY to win. And every vote after that massively increases your chances. We don't know much about maths, but we do know that having your friends catch on and enter doesn't do you much harm. There are nearly a thousand competitors right now. What you need is VOTES. But of course it's up to you...
Whatever you do, we hope you have a lovely week, and good luck, as always...
