To keep alive the competitive flame and offer you all some encouragement, we thought we’d put together a table of Get Rid Of Me performance. We present: the World Cup GROM Leaderboard - based on the number of entrants into the contest.
Joy of joys, this is something we’re good at! The UK comes top – thrashing our Ashes rivals Australia – perhaps unsurprisingly, as we invented the concept of bunking off, dossing around and generally mooching free stuff.
However we might have expected a stronger showing from the USA, given their numbers and fondness for a holiday – come on guys! You’re getting a hiding from Canada. Bet that feels real good, Canucks!
Making up the top five, South Africa gives a strong showing. It seems escape is a universal dream, even when you live in one of the countries featured on the prize-winning itinerary! Although it would be kind of swanky to finish off in your home nation.
Stats fans may be interested to know that none of these countries features in the top five for average votes – we’ll tell you more as the contest goes on but so far the social media ninjas are Saudia Arabia, Serbia and Ireland. Keep it up guys – amazing stuff!
